  What are adoption fees and what does the adoption fee include?

Adoption fee for adult is $225.00.
Adoption fee for puppies (under 6 months) is $250 + $50 refundable Spay/Neuter deposit.
Adoption fee for Senior is $125.
Adoption fee for small breed is $275.

The adoption fee includes all age-appropriate vaccines (unless otherwise stated) including:

• Rabies Vaccines
• DHPP Vaccine (Distemper / Hepatits / Parainfluenza / Parvo)
• Bordetella Vaccine
• Spay / Neuter

• Heartworm Test
• Fecal Test / Worming (if necessary)
• Microchip

  Do all dogs need to be sterilized before they go to their new home?

Yes. It is our job at Waggin' Tails not only to find new homes for our animals but to ensure these animals never have an opportunity to breed again. All of Waggin' Tails dogs will be spayed / neutered at the time of adoption unless the dogs is not of age and /or the dog has a medical condition that would prohibit sterilization at the time of adoption. Dogs under 6 months of age and dogs that cannot be sterilized due to a medical condition will be adopted out on a spay / neuter contract which means that the adopter must agree to have the dog sterilized by a specified date.

  I have a dog to surrender. Can Waggin' Tails take my dog?

We are unable to take owner surrendered animals at this time. However, we CAN assist you in placing your pet if you are willing to keep them until we can find a suitable home. We do this by posting your animal's information / picture on our site, screening potential adopters for you and doing all necessary paperwork. Most animals can find a new home anywhere from a few weeks to possibly a month or two but rest assured, we CAN find your animal a new home. Please consider this before taking your pet to a humane society or animal control facility. Most people would be shocked to know that approximately 58% of dogs that enter a kill shelter are euthanized and approximately 71% of cats are euthanized.
